SHARKHUNTERS International
2017 July "South American Expedition"

This is a departure from our usual history hunting expeditions in that we are not looking for lost members of the 3rd Reich but rather looking at the ruins of the Jesuits who were here centuries ago.  They arrived in 1609 and for about 150 years, they built and expanded until, for whatever reason, they were ordered out.  all these magnificent buildings were quickly overrun by the jungle but in the 1980's the government had them dug out and preserved.

When we think of such missions we tend to think of places like the Alamo with a small mission with many mud huts in the area.  This was certainly not the case here.  One of the temples we saw, cathedral really, was some 70 meters long, 24 meters wide with an arched roof that soared some 25 meters into the sky.  They had a youth choir with 200 singers.  Come with us for a few minutes, look at the incredible feats of engineering, agriculture, science, logistics etc. that took place here more than three centuries ago.

We will not attempt to label any of the photos; just put them there for your amazement - then we get back on the trail of the 3rd Reich that did not die but merely moved to South America and this next one will rock your socks!  But for now, let's travel back in time.

The lookout tower.  Even here in Paradise, serpents roam;
so did the various Indian tribes that were not too pleased
with the "progress" that came.
