SHARKHUNTERS International
2017 July "South American Expedition"

Day 2 - the 14th of July 2017

On the trail of the 3rd Reich in - Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay
Mengele!     Müller!     Two women who "died" in a bunker in 1945

Up and out the door at a good hour and on my way to meet with LAURENCE de MELLO, it is nice to walk through the beautiful Plaza San Martin, dedicated to the liberator of South America.  This is a beautiful park with much green area, a massive statue of the General plus many smaller ones, a dog walk area and a large playground for kids.  Naturally, there are benches all through the park and people take their lunches and breaks in the park on the benches or lying on the soft grass.

At the far end of the park is the memorial to the men of the Argentine military who lost their lives in the war known as the Falkland Islands War or the Malvinas Islands War, depending on who is writing the history.  Either way, it was a tragedy and the rate of suicide of the men who fought on both sides is extremely high.  Our friend Lieutenant Commander EDUARDO GERDING MD, Member #6895 has organized a mutual group of the British and the Argentine veterans to try to prevent more such suicides.

So on I go, walking to meet LAURENCE at the same beautiful, classic cafe that is our usual rendezvous spot.

HOLY COW!  Progress (?????) has arrived, if that is what it can be called.  This once beautiful cafe is now a Burger King and at the other end of the station is a Starbucks.  We must wonder at what point "progress" is really negatively impacting heritage - everywhere.  But what the heck, we have a snack during our meeting.

The beautiful lady in the photo below is our friend and research partner LAURENCE de MELLO, the world's top researcher on Martin Bormann.

Our meeting went on for some time as we had much to go over; plans, photos, documents etc. and she noticed the guy sitting at the next table seemingly working on his laptop but something about him didn't appear as if he was working all that hard.  Maybe his mind was just wandering; maybe he was wondering how this classic beauty of a cafe was now a Burger King - who knows?

After some time and our work finished, she had business in another part of the city so we hopped on a bus and some four miles later, arrived at the office she needed to visit.  We went inside to check in, then outside for fresh air and doggone - there was the same guy who had been working on his computer at the next table in the cafe, more or less just walking past this building - four miles from the cafe.  Amazing!

Apparently when the world's #1 expert on the escape of Adolf Hitler flies 5,000 miles to meet with the world's #1 expert on Martin Bormann, somebody is interested.
