Kassel 1939     "Warrior's Day"

Thanks to a Member who desired to remain anonymous, we acquired 100 extremely rare photos of the Erste Großdeutschland Kriegerkameradschaft Treffen in the city of Kassel in 1939. That means the First Greater Germany Warriors Gathering.  This took place shortly after Austria joined Germany to make the Greater Germany.

There are 100 photos in this book that you have NEVER seen before!

This is a photo book, so it is 7" x 10", a departure from our standard size books.

Gabrielle Dorr read this book and she told us this:
"Today, my book 'KASSEL 1939' arrived.  When I opened the envelope and pulled out the book, I knew immediately that it was special.  I became teary eyed when opening the pages.  So many memories are opened.  We had relatives living in Kassel, because after my father was released, he and my grandmother could no longer live in Berlin due to the total destruction.  Many were dead including my grandfather, so they lived some time in Kassel and later moved on to Offenbach.  When I was a child we would drive up to Kassel to visit relatives who lived near a high, old bridge.  From the living room window you could see the massive structure.  Aunt, uncle and cousins lived in this great old two story brick home with a large back yard and garden that had all kinds of fruit trees, berry bushes and two old walnut trees.  The house was always a bit in the shade due to the bridge."

RARE U-BOAT TYPES

The U-Bootwaffe of the Kriegsmarine had the largest submarine force at sea of any nation in history before or since.  Naturally, everyone knows of the Type VII and Type IX and their variants.  Hundreds of these boats were built, commissioned and went operational in World War Two with great success.  The Type VII and Type IX will be profiled in other books later.

In this book "Rare U-Boat Types", we look at the boats that the U-Bootwaffe thought about, designed a few, built some and experimented with others.

This book will tell of each of the Types that had only a few built including their specifications and relevant dates, their Skippers, accomplishments and their final fates.  There are a great many photos of the boats and Skippers, many never seen before.  Naturally, the conning tower emblems are shown for each boat.
