JOE would joke that his last name was
"Durana - rhymes with Banana". He rode USS SILVERSIDES
toward the end of the war and he quipped on many occasion that the crew was
unhappy that there were no targets, no Japanese ships on the ocean but he also
said that it was because of SILVERSIDES and other American submarines
that there were very few Japanese ships still afloat. JOE was a nice guy
and was with us on our "Patrol" in Red China.
