JOHN "Jake" FYFE was Skipper of USS BATFISH for several patrols and during one patrol, sank several Japanese submarines.  His boat, the BATFISH, stands as a permanent tribute to the crew of the boat and to American submariners of World War II.  She is in a landlocked park in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  To get there, she was brought up the Mississippi and the White Rivers and other waterways to a man-made canal dug directly to her permanent site in the park.  This waterway was financed by a local source and when the boat was in position, the canal was backfilled, grass and shrubs were planted and today, USS BATFISH sails quietly in a grassy park in Oklahoma.
