 KARL-FRIEDERICH NIEKE served in the Kriegsmarine and among other postings, he was L. I. (Chief Engineer) aboard U-616 under command of SIEGFRIED KOITSCHKA (225-+-1986).  We met at the 1988 Sharkhunters "Patrol" in Germany and had communicated frequently until he began his "Eternal Patrol".
