DANIEL  HOUSTON  #7669-2013
Officer, United States Navy

DANIEL HOUSTON served in the US Navy and when he sent his military history, he said:
"I saw you guys collect veteran bios.  I love this idea; preserved history!  Thanks for doing this stuff; it's wonderful!"

After graduating Purdue University, he entered the US Navy and was sent to Pensacola for Officer Candidate School and was commissioned an Ensign.  From there he went to the US Navy Intelligence School where he became an Intelligence Officer.

His first posting had him aboard USS CARL VINSON as an Intel Division Officer for a year; part of the time supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Later postings had him working with EP-3E Intel collecting aircraft then at an undisclosed base in the Middle East.

He was temporarily detached from VQ-1 and posted to USNS STOCKHAM which was then supporting Operation Enduring Freedom where he was Intelligence Department Head and was the top Intelligence Officer in theater.  He was also in charge of a Scan Eagle Unmanned Aerial Vehicle which operated off USNS STOCKHAM and flown over land to search for high value terrorist targets and illicit activity in support of AFP and US Special Forces. He coordinated with US Navy SEALs in support of counter terrorism operations and he participated in the operation that led to the killing of a terrorist who, at the time, was on the FBI's 25 Most Wanted Terrorists List and was the current leader of Abu Sayyaf.  He left the Navy with the rank of Lieutenant, with many medals, awards and commendations and with the reputation as an officer who always led from the front.
