Georg Lassen was a Watchkeeping Officer on U-29 at the
outbreak of World War II. On 16 October 1941, he put U-160
into commission at the A.G. Weser shipyard in Bremen, and began his trip into
history. After many successful war patrols, sinking 25 ships totaling
156,032 tons, he was ordered to the training flotilla at Pillau (now Russian
Baltysk) to train new U-Boat Skippers.
