These are the same CDs we give to Sharkhunters Members FREE when they renew their annual Membership - but now you may have them yourself.  The songs are great and bring you back to another time, and the interviews from that era will open your eyes to how people actually did perceive the war at the time.

First person memory of the intense battle between Bob's destroyer
USS BORIE and the German submarine U-405 which resulted in the
loss of both vessels, one-third of the American crew and the entire
German crew.  It is a gripping tale of battle on the high seas followed
by a failed attempt to rescue the German U-bootfahrer and finally
followed by the life and death struggle of the American destroyer
crew in a pitch dark night and in heavy seas.

ACD-14

von Mannstein.  Lale Andersen sings "Lili Marlen" on this CD - from the
                                  early 78 rpm records.

ACD-15        WASP Tales  (part I)
The WASP (Women's Airforce Service Pilots) was a little known but
highly important part of American aviation history in World War II.
They ferried planes, towed targets and other duties to free male pilots
for combat.  This CD has some stirring songs of the WASP (some are a
bit risqué) and there are great personal memories of the girls who
                                   served in this American group.

ACD-16        WASP Tales  (part II)
More first-person memories of these gallant ladies.

ACD-17        Interview with Otto Giese
Otto Giese was a young cadet in the German merchant navy, serving aboard
SS COLUMBUS when World War II first began in September 1939.  They
were in a Mexican port and tried to run back to Germany, but were discovered
by the US Navy cruiser USS TUSCALOOSA which shadowed them and
radioed their position to the Canadian Navy until they were stopped on
the high seas.  Interned in the USA, Otto escaped and made his way back
to Germany where he went through U-Boat school and was II. W. O. aboard
U-405.  His war stories are very real.

ACD-18       Interview with Horst Degen (part I)

ACD-19       Interview with Horst Degen (part II)

In this interview, Captain Horst Degen tells of his wartime experiences in
command of U-701 and of his last patrol off the American coast, where
he laid a minefield right in front of the US Navy Base at Norfolk!  He tells
of his discovery and sinking by the B-18 bomber and he gives a pretty fair
idea of the location his boat went down.  His memories of the two days at
sea where one by one, the survivors either slipped beneath the surface and
drowned - two men tried to swim the 30 miles to the American coast.  It is a
gripping story, so long it required two CDs to tell it.
