Thäter

Hess
Kapitänleutnant GERD THÄTER
(right) was a good Skipper and made the trip through the "Gates of Hell"
(Gibraltar) not once - but twice! He was Skipper of U-466 on
his 2nd trip through that narrow body of water. His First Watchkeeping
Officer (I.W.O.) HANS-GEORG HESS (left) proved to be a capable XO for many
patrols. He was later given command of U-995 just after his
21st birthday and so became the youngest combat Skipper of World War II
(possibly of all time) and he earned his Knights
Cross.
These men were very close friends after the war until Captain THÄTER
began his "Eternal Patrol" in 2004 and HESS in
early 2008. In May of
2000, both men hand-signed 1,000 of these prints. This is a nice print for
the beginning collector as well as for the veteran collector who needs just the
right piece to enhance his collection.
This is a genuine MIKE
WOOTEN Print.
