Farewell to 'ALI'

A limited edition of only 333 prints was commissioned by SHARKHUNTERS on the death of PETER-ERICH CREMER, known as "ALI" to the U-boat men; and all have been hand-signed by artist RAINER HANXLEDEN.

The background depicts the famous battle between U-333 and HMCS CROCUS in which the corvette is scraping along the side of U-333 after a ramming attempt.  The tower of U-333 is riddled by fire from Oerlikons, Pom-Poms and Hotchkiss machine gun fire.  CREMER, himself badly wounded, is handing wounded crewmen down the hatch while maneuvering his boat into a position to dive and escape.

In the foreground is a portrait of "ALI" CREMER in a happier moment.  Superimposed at the bottom of the page is his slogan of "Alles Kleine Fische" which means 'it's all little fish' or perhaps 'it's no big deal' is an easier translation.  It was his way of dealing with problems.
