SHARKHUNTERS in Europe 1988

Our first ever SHARKHUNTERS History Tour to Europe.  On this tape you will travel with us:

• through the bunkers Brest & Lorient;
• across France & Germany by train;
• meeting with dozens & dozens of vets;
• touring various German naval bases;
•  the singing, fellowship and friendship;

For the FIRST TIME EVER, we go INTO the “Lost Bunker” (pictured here) and discovered the three Type XXI boats still entombed inside!  This bunker no longer exists.  In 2001, the German Government destroyed the bunker, forever entombing U-2505, U-3004 and U-3506 beneath hundreds of tons of rubble.

There were 18 Skippers (many KNIGHTS CROSS winners) with us, two OAK LEAF winners – including:

and too many others to name.  It’s all on this tape, and it is a great eight-hour tour of history.

In this 8-hour video, you will come with us to the German U-Boat bunkers on the French Coast at Brest and Lorient; tour INSIDE them where only SHARKHUNTERS can go – and two of our group remembered when each of them was stationed aboard a U-boat that was right there in the bunkers at Brest.

You'll ride the overnight train with us through France and Germany to Hamburg where we meet with a few hundred U-Bootfahrer – a total of 18 winners of the KNIGHTS CROSS, three with the OAK LEAF - one with the SWORDS!

We visit the shipyards where BISMARCK was born as well as hundreds of U-Boats; visit the LOST BUNKER from the water side and later the camera goes INSIDE the previously unknown final resting place for THREE Type XXI boats still there; we visit the German navy base at Wilhelmshaven and tour the frigate KARLSRUHE;

We visit the German Navy Memorial and tour completely through the only Type VII-C in the world - with two U-Bootfahrer giving the step-by-step tour; visit the U-Boat Memorial that is dedicated to the nearly 32,000 who did not return (SHARKHUNTERS sends about $1,000 each year to help maintain this Memorial); we tour through U-2540, the only Type XXI boat left in the world; we visit the Submarine School in Flensburg and sit in the same buildings they did in the war years when they were learning the art of submarine warfare; visit the submarine base at Kiel; dine with men of history - and at the end of this tape, there is a one-hour long segment of our entry INTO the LOST BUNKER by three SHARKHUNTERS Members with cameras rolling.  We actually WALKED ON THE DECK of one of the boats - it's all on camera!
