Otto Westphalen Interview - 1994

Captain Westphalen was a Skipper (U-968) in the latter days of World War II and brought his boat and men back from several successful patrols in the Arctic at a time when U-boats did not return.  He sank a destroyer, and earned the Knights Cross.  He tells about his combat and about his men who thought of him as the "old man", even though he was just 23 years of age.  This tape is spoken in German.

This was part of the 7 Skippers tape, which is no longer available.
