SHARKHUNTERS International
We Visit Karlshorst

Toward late afternoon on Sunday 28 September, we visit Karlshorst, the mansion where the unconditional surrender was signed.

the mansion where the surrender ceremony took place.   MIGUEL GONZALES (3076-20005) in the doorway.

the backdrop for the table where the Allied generals sat.   the actual table itself.

Outside, there is a well maintained collection of armor, trucks, kytusha rocket trucks and of course, the obligatory T-34 Soviet tank.  One might wonder of they ever broke up any T-34 for scrap, as they are everywhere.  One might also wonder if any display is official in Europe unless there is a T-34.  It was an excellent battle tank for its time.

Above right is the diorama of the assault on the Reichstag in the closing moments of World War II.  This is a beautiful painting of a very sad time in history.  Another thing the Soviets loved was panoramas or dioramas.

While in this area, we were able to visit a huge World War II bunker still in existence.

The end of a busy day - our Sharkhunters group sits down to an excellent meal in a very nice Italian restaurant.
