SHARKHUNTERS International
Ostwall - massive fortification complex

Now we visit Ostwall - the East Wall
The "East Wall" was a massive defense line, like the more famous 'Siegfried Line' near Miedzyrzecz.

It seems to be a strange place to put modern 'porta-potties' at the far end of a minefield - but after going around the mine area and making the necessary stop, we headed up the stairs to the entrance and the museum.

Heading down into another bunker - FRED CHANG (772-19988),
BILL NAPIER (2290-C/LIFE-1992)
and
HARRY COOPER (1-LIFE-1983)
.

To the Museum.....

Another T-34 tank.  It is almost obligatory for
museums in the former Soviet areas to have one on display.
They were nearly as plentiful as Volkswagen "Beetles".
RONAL HEUTON (7179-C-2007) has the same field of vision
as the sentry who stood in this O.P. seven decades ago.

.....then deep underground.

Into the bunker entrance - and we go down hundreds of feet into the earth.

Photos above and below - What it was like in the typical underground barracks and living areas.
